Work Time

FAQ

Here you'll find answers to the most common questions about the app. For legal information, use Privacy & legal in the More menu.

Account & sign-in

How do I register?

On the start screen, tap the "Register" tab and enter your first name, your email address, and a password. For security, you need to enter the password twice. If you like, enable "Stay signed in" so you don't have to sign in every time.

Why do I have to confirm my email?

To make sure the account really belongs to you, you confirm your email address once. After registering, you'll receive an email with a confirmation link. Until you tap it, the app shows the notice "Please confirm your email address" and stays locked.

As soon as you confirm the link in the email, the app unlocks automatically – you don't need to do anything else. If you didn't receive an email, tap "Resend confirmation email" and also check your spam folder.

I forgot my password – what do I do?

In the sign-in area, tap "Forgot password?". Enter your email address and tap "Request link". If an account exists for that address, you'll receive an email with a link. Use it to set a new password under "Set new password" and then sign in again.

How do I delete my account?

Go to More → User → "Delete account & data". On the next page, tap "Open" under "Delete account". For your safety, deletion requires two steps: first confirm the notice and hold the delete button, then confirm permanently with "Delete permanently".

This permanently deletes your account and your stored work times. The action cannot be undone.

How do I delete only my entries without deleting the account?

On the same page (More → User → "Delete account & data") there is an additional "Delete entries" option. This removes your recorded times while your account remains. To remove individual days, the easiest way is directly in the archive (see below).

Work time & tracking

How do I start my shift?

On the start screen, tap "Start shift". In the dialog, today's date is preselected; you can adjust the start time using the arrows in hour and minute steps. Tap "Apply" to start your shift, and the status card shows "Shift started at …".

How do I end my shift?

Tap "End shift". In the dialog you set the end time, add a break if needed, and choose the location: "Home" or "Business trip" (for a business trip you can also enter the place). Tap "Apply" to save your work day.

How do breaks work?

You enter breaks when ending a shift. In the end dialog, tap the break button and set the duration in hours and minutes via "Set break". If you enabled the automatic break in the settings, the app already suggests a break time when you end the shift, which you can keep or adjust. The break is deducted from your work time.

How do I record vacation, sick leave, or comp time off?

On the start screen you'll find the "Vacation" and "Sick leave" buttons.

  • "Vacation" opens the "Absence" dialog, where you can choose between Vacation, Comp time off, and Unpaid leave.
  • "Sick leave" records sick days.

In both cases you can pick a single day or a range (from–to). Only your active workdays are recorded – public holidays and weekend/off days are skipped automatically.

How are public holidays handled?

The app detects public holidays automatically based on the configured country and state. You set these under More → Settings → "Holidays". On a public holiday, your target time is credited, so you don't accrue undertime.

For Christmas (Dec 24) and New Year's Eve (Dec 31) you can decide on the same page whether they count as a normal workday, a half day off, or a full day off.

I forgot to clock out – what now?

If a shift stays open, the status card shows the open day. Simply tap "End shift" and correct the end time to the actual value before saving. While a shift is open, that day is not yet counted toward your overtime/undertime – it's included once you end it.

Can I edit earlier entries?

Yes. Open the Archive and switch to the day view ("Days"). There you can adjust a day or delete it using the trash icon. Note: days in months older than the previous month are read-only – the app will let you know.

Hours & reports

How does overtime work?

Your overtime and undertime come from comparing your actual work time with your target time. The app calculates your daily target from your weekly target divided by your number of workdays. You set both under More → Settings → "Work time".

Where do I see my overtime/undertime?

On the start screen, the overview card shows your week, month, and year (or "Total"). For month and year it reads "Overtime:" for a plus or "Undertime:" for a minus. In the Archive you can also check per day and per week how much you worked and what your balance is.

My hours look wrong – why?

In most cases it's due to how special days are counted:

  • Public holidays, vacation, and sick leave are credited as target time and are therefore neutral – they create neither plus nor minus.
  • Comp time off reduces overtime and lowers your balance accordingly.
  • Unpaid leave is neutral and does not affect your hours.

Also check whether your weekly target and your workdays are set correctly under "Work time" and whether the break for a given day is entered correctly.

Why don't my hours update immediately?

Only completed workdays count toward your overtime/undertime. While a shift is still open, today is not included. As soon as you end the shift via "End shift", your balance updates.

Export

How do I export my times?

You can reach the export in three places: via More → Export, via the export icon in the Archive, and via the export icon in Reports. Choose the format and time range there and tap "Start export". You can then save or share the file using your device's share function.

Which formats are available?

You can choose between PDF and CSV. CSV is well suited for further processing in spreadsheet programs.

Which time ranges can I export?

You can choose between Range (freely selectable from–to), Month, Week, and Year.

The export says "No data in the selected period" – why?

Then there are no recorded entries in the selected period. Choose a different period or check whether your entries fall within the desired range.

Privacy & data

Where is my data stored?

Your work times and profile data are stored on your device and – for sign-in and synchronization – on the associated server. That way your data is available again after signing in on a new device.

Does the app show ads or track me?

No. The app shows no ads and uses no advertising tracking. It's solely about tracking your work time.

How long is my data stored?

Your entries stay stored as long as you keep them. When you delete your account, your data is removed. You'll find details about storage and deletion under Privacy & legal in the More menu.

Can I export my data?

Yes. Using the export (see above) you can back up your times at any time as PDF or CSV – for example as a personal copy of your data.

How do I delete my account and my data?

Via More → User → "Delete account & data". After two confirmations, your account and your stored work times are permanently deleted there.
